USA recognized as key source market placing business in the region thanks to relaxed VISA requirements and a wide variety of flights available from major cities
The recent global Destination Index Survey compiled by Pacific World (www.pacificworld.com), a leading Global DMC and event management organisation, has identified South Korea as one of the top MICE destinations.
The research has pinpointed the USA as the key source market placing business in the region, with the majority of clients coming from the Pharmaceutical, Energy and Finance/Banking industries.
Harsha Krishnan, Strategic Development Director at Pacific World commented, “Creative and well-executed promotional campaigns have helped to overcome the North Korea threat related issues from the previous years that had drastically affected tourism. The geopolitical situation became less volatile in 2014, thereby increasing the sense of security for tourists in South Korea.”
South Korea’s Country Manager, Ej Fieldhouse, noted that the “VISA Exemption for USA travelers, the wide offer of direct flights to Seoul and the presence of Korean brands headquarters in the United States generated a growth of the MICE business from this market”.
In addition, new direct budget flights from China have made South Korea more accessible. New premium outlets, as well as the recently opened Dongdaemum Design Plaza Hotel have added to the country’s reputation as a high-end trendy MICE destination.
